From the very first weld in the production hall to the final assembly of tanks at customer sites across Europe – this is, in short, the career path of Remigiusz Burliga, Installations Supervisor. He works at Gpi Tanks Poland since 2015. The most satisfaction gives him creating, repairing, and perfecting details – whether at home or while carrying out demanding installation projects. “The company helped me develop.”
Remigiusz tells about his background: “I graduated from a technical trade school, studied IT in management, but I never worked in that field. At first, right after finishing high school, I worked as a carpenter’s assistant where we prepared formwork for building bridges on the A4 motorway. I also worked in the automotive industry, to which I returned after completing three years of military service. I later worked as a salesman. Eventually, I ended up at a company in Brzeg, where I welded filters for cars. That’s also where I became familiar with technical drawings. I worked at that company for seven years.”
Start at Gpi
He joined Gpi in 2015. “My wife decided to submit a CV on my behalf, knowing that I wanted to change something. It worked out. I started as a welder in Gpi’s production facility in Brzeg, welding and building entire tanks. I became one of the first foremen there.”
One of the turning points in his career was building a tank for a specific project. Although he had formal support from the production manager, he worked independently on-site, taking full responsibility for coordination, client communication, and the entire process. For Remigiusz, it was a test of whether he could handle pressure and manage work in the field. Over time, he was sent more and more often to customer sites, where he consistently proved himself. As he recalls, it was these projects that paved the way for him to become a foreman in Brzeg.
When Gpi opened its large new factory in Skarbimierz, he transitioned to the new production facility. This move set the direction for his continued growth into his current role – Installation Supervisor.

About his role
“Today, I handle the installation of the finished product at the customer’s site and service elements that are still under warranty,” he says about his current role. “I also help with organizing transport and relocations. I work closely with Project Managers to carry out site inspections, plan builds, and anticipate difficulties. Sometimes there’s a lot going on, but it makes me happy when the customer is satisfied with our professionalism.”
Remigiusz doesn’t like monotony and isn’t afraid of challenges. “Every day in this job is different. There are no two identical installations, no two identical tanks. Weather conditions can even affect the best-planned installation. Everything needs to be well thought out. I like seeing something grow out of my hands – not just in the garden, but also at work.”
“Expect the unexpected”
Every day he faces different challenges. For example, installing a tank in an extremely confined space. “The tank literally had to be “smuggled” between other equipment, and every stage – from transport to assembly and welding – required precision and patience,” he explains. Another project, located in a city center, required special caution. Installing six tanks in a dense urban area while maintaining the highest safety standards was both a logistical and technical challenge.
How does he deal with pressure? “Some things just can’t be rushed. It’s better to say something won’t be done on time than to risk quality and safety. You need to have a margin – for weather, for transport, for unforeseen situations. My rule is: expect the unexpected.”
A leader with principles
Although he doesn’t have a fixed team, he is always responsible for the people who go with him on installations. “Before leaving, I meet with the crew – we talk, brainstorm, and plan. At work, there’s no democracy – someone has to make decisions. But it’s important that the team thinks independently. I try to motivate people, not just assign tasks.”
Technical skills and personal growth
“Spatial imagination, understanding technical drawings, planning, tools, innovations; you need to have all this mastered. Safety regulations change, technology develops, you must stay up to date. I like technology, it is the future that keeps us safe.”
Remigiusz proudly talks about his growth at Gpi: “The company helped me develop. Thanks to Gpi’s support, I completed my studies and earned the title of Engineer of Production Processes. I learned to use our ERP system Ridder, to read technical drawings, and to handle invoicing. Today, I don’t just do production work, I also manage logistics, documentation, customer contact. The engineers help me a lot, but I also keep developing on my own.”
Working at Gpi
In his daily work, Remigiusz collaborates with many departments: from engineering and project management to the quality department. Each team brings something essential to the process, and efficient communication and mutual understanding make it possible to complete even the most challenging projects successfully. Joint planning, technical consultations, and on-site cooperation are elements that simply must work if a project is to be delivered on time and with the right quality.
He also appreciates this sense of teamwork beyond installations. During tougher moments – such as a long recovery after an accident caused by a wasp sting – he could count on real support from the company. “I felt I wasn’t left on my own,” he emphasizes. For him, Gpi Tanks Poland is a stable workplace where not only experience but also willingness to grow and readiness to act matter. After ten years with the company, he still sees new goals and opportunities for further development ahead.
